Ana Maria Brânză is an Olympic champion (gold, Rio de Janeiro, 2016) and a two-time world champion (2010 and 2011), having been named the world's best female épée fencer on three occasions (2008, 2009, 2013). Her list of achievements also includes a silver medal from the Beijing Olympic Games (2008), seven European championship titles—both individual and team—and 20 medals won at European and World Championships.
Today, Ana Maria Brânză remains actively involved in the sport as Vice President of the Romanian Fencing Federation. Beyond her sporting titles and medals, Ana is a powerful contemporary voice; she has demonstrated that she has a message for every generation—and especially for young people—that every success is preceded by thousands upon thousands of hours of hard work, because dreams alone are not enough to become a champion.
